Team Energy: Creating a New Path for Competitive Basketball Players
Springfield, IL- I started Team Energy because organized basketball opportunities often become limited once a player’s college or professional career ends. For many former players, the main options are local men’s recreational leagues or cash-prize tournaments.
Most players now have full-time jobs and play for fun or to remain competitive. Others are former professionals or current college players preparing for their next opportunity. Some may be between contracts and need a platform to prove they can still compete at a high level.
Team Energy was created to fill that middle ground.
More Than a Recreational Team
Our goal is to compete in organized events that offer more competition, exposure, and professional opportunity than the average recreational league or money tournament.
That is why Team Energy competed in the United Pro Invitational in Atlanta, hosted by Trinity United, and why we plan to continue attending Trinity United events. These competitions allow our players to compete against talented athletes, build relationships, and perform in front of people connected to professional basketball.
As we grow, we also plan to create our own events where players can be seen by FIBA coaches, scouts, general managers, team owners, and agents.
Income and Community Impact
Team Energy is about more than basketball.
Through Goodenuf2, we work to create income opportunities for our players and help them use their skills, experience, and connections beyond the court.
We also give back to our community and support local organizations and teams by making donations to the Energy United Foundation, which focuses on youth, education, sports, and technology.
As Team Energy grows, we want our players and communities to grow with it.
What’s Next for Team Energy
We are looking forward to several major opportunities over the next few months.
In November 2026, we plan to compete in Atlanta at State Farm Arena as part of a doubleheader connected to an Atlanta Hawks game.
In December, we plan to host a combine where players can be evaluated and recruited directly to the LDC Superior League in the Dominican Republic.
Then, in January 2027, Team Energy plans to travel to the Dominican Republic to compete against professional teams and showcase our talent internationally.
Future games, tournaments, combines, and competitions will be confirmed at a later date, but we felt it was important to share our direction now.
Building Something That Lasts
Team Energy provides competitive players with a meaningful place to continue their basketball journey. We want to bridge the gap between recreational basketball and professional opportunity while creating exposure, income, relationships, and community impact along the way.
